  • Emergence from obscurity

How about that, last weblog entry was almost exactly two years ago.

On a whim, I took a look at this xanga that I started nearly six years ago. I noticed Xanga offered some new features, so I thought I'd breathe new life into this long-standing blog. Reading the entries made me nostalgic of times when I was really into updating here. Before Facebook, before Twitter, this was my thing.

Every year I stopped by a couple times for the same nostaligc reasons. Sometimes, I would be tempted to make an entry for old times sake. Usually the huge time gap would disuade me from making an entry, what with the potentially large recap due. Instead, I have made this entry explaining the reason(s) for the lack of updates and near abandonment.

If anyone is still reading, leave a comment. :]

  • It's been a while since my last entry, but this has to be documented.

So tonight, there was a blackout for UC Irvine! It was so cool, this being my first blackout in college. I always wondered what would happen in the event of a blackout in college, and I got my answer. People were emptying into the common areas in all the halls. I think that the blackout was the most commotion that Isla has seen since the first week of the academic year. The Village halls all have backup generators to power the lights in the common area, so were weren't pitch black like the older halls.

Over in Vista, the whole hall was pitch black except for where the moonlight could seep through the windows and people's personal sources of light. We all hung out and told scary stories to pass the time. The lights came back at a really interesting time, right as Song was at the climatic part of his scary story. Needless to say, we were all a little shocked when the lights came on.

So apparently what had happed was the main generator for the school was blown. This knocked out power to all of Mesa Court, the lecture halls and buildings, and the halls in Middle Earth that are closest to campus. Everywhere else on the east side of campus still had light.

It was fun, but NOOO...now I have a midterm as scheduled and an assignment for Chem 5 due tomorrow.

  • Where does the day go?

It seems that every time I look at the clock, more time has passed than I realized has. I always abhor waking up late and napping during the day because that wastes so much time. Unfortunately, I woke up at 2:30 today after deciding not to turn on any alarms. I thought that getting sleep today would be a good idea, but that was a bad idea in hindsight. There was so much work to catch up on. Three assignments for chemistry were due today, and I barely managed to finish them before the online deadline. Then there was WebWorks for Chem lab. Sigh...I still need to consolidate my notes for Bio and catch up on my Math homework.

So like I said before, where does the time go? It seemed only like 10:30 while I was still studying and now I break to type this entry and find that it's already 1 AM. Just thinking out loud, organizing really saves you a lot of time. I used to blow off programs like Outlook and organizers, but now they are the centerpieces for my days. Yahoo Widgets, Outlook 2007, and my Windows Mobile phone all synchronize with each other and keep me on ask. Looking at the coming attractions, I can't believe that thisi upcoming week is the last week before midterms begin. I'm glad that I started to catch up on homework this weekend, otherwise I'd be freaking screwed. The worst is yet to come, but the following calm will all be worth it.
